Briefly spoken about in previous posts, there is more than just the sink itself that needs to be installed. You will need to purchase the other bits and pieces to make it work, just like any other type of sink. What you need is a proper working sink. Once this happens you will be very pleased with the results and your hard work.

These are the three things you need to get for your installation if it does not come with it already as a set:

Faucet

Taps

Drain Plug

Faucet - this is the most important part of your vessel sink setup besides the sink itself. There are many types of faucets and some come with the tap built in as part of it. This means that it may be more difficult to install with all the plumbing going into one place. Some of these faucets are really amazing and new age and actually pretty cool.

Taps - If a tap does not come as an in built with your vessel shaped sink faucet, then you need to purchase them separately. On most occasions, your faucet and taps will come as a set and you will buy them all together. If not, then you need to buy them separately. Make sure they all look good together, but most importantly you need to make sure that they fit into your sink. You do not want to make more shopping trips than you have to and it is a waste of time.

Drain Plug - This may be a really silly item to put here but I think it is very important and very much overlooked. Everyone is so busy trying to get the best vessel sink for them that they do not even think about the drain. The beauty of the vessel is that they can hold a large amount of water. They can not do that unless there is a drain plug. Not only is the drain plug necessary but it needs to fit into the drain. You may need to buy a few pieces that enable the drain in the sink to match the drain you are putting it on.

So there you go, a beautiful vessel shaped sink with all the matching parts to go with it. Once you see the whole thing working and you start to use it you will just love it and know you made a good choice.

Installing one of these types of sinks means giving you a lot of pictures to help you along but I will only be giving you a basic overview this time. This article will be a starting point for those looking for the basics and if you are wanting to install a this type of sink then I assume that you already have some do it yourself skills too.

To make it easier, here are the four easy steps you need to know about to install your vessel sink

Tools

Bench

The Sink

Plumbing

Tools - Ensure that you have all the right tools to install a sink and do some plumbing too. You definitely need a tape measure and a pencil for positioning. You need other tools to make a hole in the bench that you have. Depending on the type of bench you will be putting your sink on, you will need the tools to make a hole in that type of material. All the plumbing tools is required also as well as the bits and pieces that make up a vessel - not many.

Bench - You can not use the same bench that a traditional sink is installed in. You will need a special one and this assumes that you already have purchased or made one. If not, then ensure that the material is easy to cut a hole into for the plumbing of your vessel sink. A circular saw is good for this.

The Sink - I think that this is the most obvious item to be listed here and maybe not the easiest to get with all the choices you have. You need to place it on top of the bench exactly where you want it and mark out where the drain and faucets are to be installed.

Plumbing - There will be a drain and a faucet and taps unless you get those all in one faucets where the tap has the handle on top of it. Make sure all of the parts you get for plumbing match these. You do npt want to have all different sizes because that can really stuff you around.

So there you have it, the basics of installing the special sink of vessel shape. It appears to be very simple and this is probably because it is. So what are you waiting for? Go out and get yourself one and then go and install it. Your bathroom will thank you for it.
